Profitable Subject Areas for Google Adsense

Google Adsensehelp Tutorial:
7. Profitable Subject Areas for Google Adsense

Through Channels, Google's Adsense now provides a way to discover which of your pages provide the most income. If your intention is to make as much money as possible from your pages, then you need to be aware that certain keywords attract more per click. This is not surprising. Market forces determine how much advertisers are prepared to pay for particular keywords and phrases.

The problem, of course, with trying to serve clicks to the most profitable areas is that the competition is also likely to be fiercer in those areas. If you set up pages, or a site, in a highly competitive area, it is going to be more difficult to attract visitors to those pages than for subject areas that are less in demand.

Also, in building a rich content site, one has to consider other matters too. Does the site interest you? Will you be motivated to write about the chosen subject area? Will it interest your visitors? Is it sufficiently focused on a particular subject area? In other words, choosing the most profitable subject area may not always be the best strategy.

Bear in mind also that Google does not allow Adsense in certain subject areas, such as gambling.

However, if you decide to follow the money, there are several ways to research the most profitable words and phrases and many of these are free.

For instance, 7search.com has a list of the 100 top paying keywords here that may provide some ideas.

Overture has a View Bids tool that you may also find useful. You simply type in the search term that interests you (together with the security code provided) and click "Search".

For those of us who are already Google AdWords advertisers, our Google AdWords account enables us to research different keyword combinations.

For those who are serious about keyword research and are also prepared to pay for this,Wordtracker may be the answer. You can take the free trial or join for a day, a week, a month, three months or a year. This is the database used by many professionals in the field.
