Google Adsensehelp Tutorial:
8. Search Engine Optimization for Google Adsense
Search engines are becoming more sophisticated all the time and I think that there may be less need in the future to research keywords in an effort to bring visitors to our sites by artificial means.
At the moment, however, there are certainly some techniques to be learned that will help in bringing free search engine traffic to our sites.
The aim, put simply, is to find key words and phrases that are in high demand from searchers but that have few suppliers in terms of relevant web pages. In other words, we are looking for search terms that, in proportion to the number of searches, have relatively few web pages using those search terms.
We can then build a web page around that keyword or phrase. We can place the phrase in links to that page, in the title, in the Meta name description, in the Meta name keywords, in the headings and in the text (as many times as we think is appropriate). However, don't overdo any particular keyword or phrase. A natural and well-written prose style may be just as important. There is evidence that some search engine algorithms are now discriminating against an unnatural optimization and therefore, as with most things in life, it may be best not to take such techniques to an extreme. Always think first about your visitor and how best to provide a useful experience and service for them.
Whatever some people may suggest, this is not an exact science. Search engines use different and changing algorithms over time. What works for one search engine today may not work for another one - and may not work for the same search engine in six months time! It is therefore probably best to make our content as intelligible and interesting as possible and to concentrate on providing useful information. It is unwise to stray too far from normal English usage in a misguided obsession with cramming in keywords! Our text will not be attractive to read and our visitors may with justification go somewhere else.
Everyone of course has their own writing style. But we might generalise that an appropriate writing style for sites using Google Adsense is one that helps to build up trust.
Our tone of voice is important in this respect. No one likes to be lectured. A conversational style, drawing on our own experience where possible, often works best.
As with any writing task, it is usually best to use language straightforwardly, to be honest and not to pretend to be anything other than ourselves. Our visitors will appreciate our candour and they will be more likely to return in the future as they begin to trust our judgement.
