Who might use Google Adsense?

Google Adsensehelp Tutorial:
2. Who might use Google Adsense?

Google Adsense is well suited to those who have, or wish to build, content rich sites. For any Internet venture, good organizational skills, persistence, determination, imagination and patience will help. A measure of technical competence and writing skill is also useful although many of these abilities can be learned. Google Adsense is perhaps of most value in situations where the web site owner does not wish to become too involved in marketing individual products or services. Google finds relevant advertising for us and pays us by the click for that advertising.

It is my belief that Google Adsense will be a good influence on the Web overall by encouraging web site owners to concentrate on offering useful content and giving them a means of making money from that content.

Whilst Google Adsense might be used as a sole source of income, sites would nevertheless be well advised to have alternative modes of income and to promote products or services themselves too. It makes sense to use Google Adsense alongside other revenue streams so that all of our eggs are not in the Adsense basket!

It also needs to be stated that building and marketing content rich web sites is hard work. This requires a dogged determination as well as putting in place a number of different techniques; web design, copy writing, search engine optimisation, research and so on. Moreover, the ground is constantly changing. Search engines periodically alter the algorithms they use to select sites and pages. New technology transforms the way that business is done and opens up new approaches for us to apply. Any income we may be earning, may suddenly decline for no apparent reason. The Web (and Adsense in particular) is still young and there is very little certainty on The Internet. It often feels as if we are subject to forces beyond our control. This is probably not the life for anyone who is happiest with certainty and routine!

Another point to mention is that building sites for income is unlikely to be profitable in the short term. Unless you are in the enviable position of being able to support yourself and not requiring an immediate income, you would be well advised to begin on a part-time basis. As with many businesses, the best way to start may be alongside your main job. By learning the tricks of the trade in your spare time, you can discover if you like the work. You may also be able to prove that you can earn a living this way. Then, and only then, would it be sensible to consider this as a way of life!
